Maine Environmental Education Association
Conserving Maine's rich cultural and natural heritage requires an environmentally aware citizenship. Recognizing this, the Maine Environmental Education Association (MEEA) was created in 1982. MEEA helps organizations, schools, groups, educational programs, and individuals promote and expand environmental education in Maine. In addition, MEEA acts as a clearinghouse, keeping groups and individuals informed of issues and events in the field of environmental education.

The mission of the Maine Environmental Policy Institute (MEPI) is to help Mainers understand the importance of healthy ecosystems to their families and communities. The Institute, an independent nonprofit organization based in Hallowell, Maine, is dedicated to researching environmental challenges facing the state and reporting this research to policy makers and the public. MEPI has received the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence and the Sierra Club's Environmental Media Award.
